- UVC 18" High Output Lamp System (Kit)
- UVC 33" High Output Lamp System
- UVC 21" Lamp System
(The 21" model available in limited quantities; first come, first served.)
Considerations
- Place UV Lamp in the largest area of the Return Duct for maximum effectiveness (Click here for Install Instructions)
- Professional installation is recommended if not experienced in HVAC maintenance and or installations
- Disconnect power to the HVAC system before installing and only reconnect once lamp is safely installed behind the closed door of the heating and cooling unit
- Consult local government building and safety codes for proper safety and installation practices
- Never expose eyes or skin to UV rays
- Do not install where plastics could be exposed to the UV light rays, flex duct, wiring etc.
- Fingerprints will damage lamp; DO NOT INSTALL WITHOUT GLOVES
- Clean lamps when installed - use only rubbing alcohol
- The UVC output drops with time. (This is true of all brands, makes and models.) Lamps should be replaced annually for the system to preform at its peak.
How many UV lamps will I need?
See the chart below to determine how many UVCM's High Output (HO) UVC Germicidal Lamp Systems are needed in each of your HVAC units or air handlers.
Note: Kits are recommended based on the size of the heating and cooling (HVAC) system and whether it can fit in the system or duct work. We offer 18" or 33" High Output UVC Germicidal Lamp Systems, as well as a 21" Lamp System. The following recommendations correspond to the MINIMUM number of lamps required to obtain the desired kill rate of up to 90%.
Light Commercial:
Two UVC 18K" High Output Germicidal Lamp Systems are recommended for small offices and/or older schools that have one or more heating/cooling systems (3 to 5 ton packaged units) per classroom with up to a 1800 CFM rating (cubic feet per minute of air from the fan).
Commercial/Industrial:
Where multiple HVAC systems exist in a building, a UVC High Output Germicidal Lamp Systems must be installed in each and every HVAC unit to be effective (no exceptions). Based on the CFM rating of the HVAC system, we recommend the following:
| HVAC Unit CFM Rating | Minimum Number of UVC 33k High Output (HO) Kits Required* |
|---|---|
| Up to 3,000 cfm | 2 |
| 3,001 cfm - 4,000 cfm | 3 |
| 4,001 cfm - 5,000 cfm | 4 |
| 5,001 cfm - 6,000 cfm | 4 |
| 6,000 cfm - 8,000 cfm | 6 |
| 8,001 cfm - 10,000 cfm | 8 |
| 10,001 cfm - 12,000 cfm | 12 |
| 12,001 cfm - 15,000 cfm | 14 |
| 15,001 cfm - 20,000 cfm | 18 |
| 20,001 cfm - 30,000 cfm | 20 |
*When in doubt, round up to ensure you have desired protection. These are general recommendations. Depending upon application, a consultation with a trained professional installer may be necessary to assure desired performance.
